KING KHALED INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

King Khaled International Airport project was initiated by King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1978 and opened for operation in 1983. Terminals 1 & 2 served for international flights, Terminals 3 for domestic flights and Terminal 4 remained as an empty building shell. When Terminal 5 opened in 2016, Terminal 3 was closed for renovation.
Main scope of the contract consists of converting Terminal 3 from a Domestic Terminal to an International Terminal. Project also includes stripping of all existing finishes and E/M installations in Terminal 3 and complete fit-out of and Terminal 4 with a full MEP works, IT works, safety and security systems replacement to provide fully operational terminals. When the project is completed, total passenger capacity will be approx. 12 million per year. Project designer is Dar Al-Handasah
